Baby N.O.W.'s arrival!!!

It was Thursday May 6th, 2010 around 5:30... Jason and I were preparing dinner for our friends Deanna and Ashley, we were going to eat and then go walking (to hopefully bring something on). I had been walking back and forth in the house while dinner was cooking and felt like I needed to use the restroom... and my water broke about the time I made it to the bathroom. They say you may feel a gush or just a little trickle, they don't tell you it seems like a waterfall! All I could think was "Oh my! It's happening, what do I do? Are we ready??!" I yelled for Jason, needless to say he started panicking, trying to grab everything and get it into the car. I calmed myself and him... then called Labor and Delivery and spoke with a nurse who I knew. She told me to get a shower, get my stuff together and come to the hospital, no rush but to come on in. So we called Deanna and them and let them know what was going on and then called my mom and dad. Mom got ready and met us at the house, we ate dinner and left for the hospital.
6:30 at the hospital we got set up in our L&D room, I got hooked up to the monitors for the babies heart rate and my contractions. It was so reassuring to hear his heart rate and know that he was okay. As of this time I had not had any contractions. Later on around midnight they began… oh boy did they begin! After awhile of strong contractions I had progressed but not to ten centimeters yet. It was the next morning before I had dilated to ten, I had my epidural placed awhile before this so I was not in any pain. Around 10am Friday May 7th I began to push and did so till about 2:30 pm. Nicholas Had moved into the birth canal but was not positioned right. He had been head down for quite some time and had been facing posteriorly, but somewhere between that Tuesday and now he had turned and was facing up and to the right. The doctor tried and tried to get him to turn while I was laboring but to no avail. After hours of pushing and no progress we decided to have a c-section since I was nearing the 24 hour mark since my water had broke. This was the last thing I had wanted but I was tired, not responding to the pitocin and Nicholas was not budging. They prepped me and got Jason dressed and off we went to have our baby boy.
At 3:13pm on Friday May 7th 2010 Nicholas Olen Wilson was born to his proud mommy and daddy. I laid there on the table and felt them pull him out of me, it was the weirdest feeling I have ever had, Jason and the anesteologist kept having to remind me to breath, the meds they numb you with coupled with my attention to the feeling of what was being done left me distracted enough to not bother breathing. Oh to hear his first little cries, it truly melted my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I just laid there waiting and listening for it, such a miraculous sound when he first fills his lungs and let it out. He weighed in at 7 lbs and 15 ozs, measured 23 inches long! I now knew why I never got the relief of having him drop at the end of my pregnancy; he was a third of his momma’s height, squished into my belly! Here are some of his first pictures…………

The first time mommy got to see me, I was crying when they handed me to daddy but as soon as mom spoke I quieted down and listened...

You can see the finger marks on his poor little head from where the doctor kept trying to get him to turn.

Warning** Next picture not for the squeamish!
I had a little cone head from being in mommy for so long!

Long time coming...

Wow, I have been slacking on this blog majorly!
Here are some pictures of the nursery that I and Jason worked on together. Jason drew the pictures to match the characters on the bedding we picked out and I painted them and the letters. I worked long hours on these and we are really proud of them. I hope Nicholas will enjoy them when he gets older! We got our crib and nursery furniture put up and then once we got our bedding we set up the nursery completely. I would often venture in his room and look around wondering how it would be to finally have him out of my belly. I couldn’t wait to have him in my arms, to be able to look in his little eyes, and hold his little hand.
